IASIA 2024 Conference: Check The Preliminary Program and Registration is Open

Cesar Rojas Alfonzo,

We are excited to announce that registration for the IASIA 2024 Conference is now open!

We have received 286 abstracts and proposals, authored by 392 scholars and practitioners from 33 countries. We expect more than 300 registrations in the coming months.

The IASIA 2024 Conference will provide a solid platform for discussions on the main theme of "Alternative Service Delivery and Sustainable Societal Responsiveness," along with other relevant public governance topics. These will be explored through keynote speeches, thematic panels, and our 10 IASIA Working Group sessions.

Additionally, the conference will feature IASIA governance meetings and a robust social program aimed at fostering networking among participants. Prof. Dr. Liza van Jaarsveldt (University of South Africa), Dr. Christa de Wet (North-West University), and Prof. Dr. Liezel Lues (University of the Free State) will serve as rapporteurs.

A PhD Seminar will also be held, chaired by Prof. Dr. Michiel S. De Vries (Radboud University), Prof. Dr. Hendri Kroukamp (University of the Free State), and Prof. Dr. Kambidima Wotela (University of the Witwatersrand), providing young researchers a unique opportunity to engage with an international and interdisciplinary research community.

A highlight of the conference will be the keynote speeches addressing critical challenges such as the COVID-19 aftermath, geopolitical tensions, and climate change. Speakers Ms. Yoliswa Makhasi, Director-General of the Department of Public Service and Administration, South Africa, Ms. Bontle Lerumo, from the Public Service Education and Training Authority (PSETA), and Hon. Cllr Bheke Stofile, President of SALGA, will discuss innovative public service delivery models involving private companies, NGOs, and community groups.

The Host Country Panel will focus on South Africa's governance and socio-economic issues, discussing the protection of socio-economic rights and the future of local municipalities through co-governance. The panel includes Dr. Henk Boshoff, Commissioner of the South African Human Rights Commission, Mr. Julius Kleynhans, Executive Manager of the Local Government Division at Organization Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) and Prof. Mpilo Pearl Sithole, Campus Vice-Principal, among other experts, offering valuable insights into improving public service delivery and governance in South Africa.

Additionally, during the Closing Ceremony, Ms. Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi will provide the audience with some highlights on Alternative Services Delivery and Social Responsiveness.

Participants are encouraged to check the conference program for more information and to register if they haven't already. Don't miss out on this enriching opportunity to connect with experts, share insights, and advance discussions on contemporary public governance themes.

We look forward to seeing you there!
